  • Peppermint natural essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from organic plants grown in Piedmont.

    Usage Tips:

    • Inhalation: Pour 2-3 drops of essential oil in boiling water to make fumigations in case of colds or simply on a handkerchief and breathe.
    • Food flavouring: add a few drops of essential oil to sweet, savory dishes or cocktails to impart a strong mint scent and flavour.
    • For digestive problems: assure 2 drops of essential oil diluted in a teaspoon of vegetable oil or honey in case of flatulence, diarrhea or nausea.
    • Massage oil: add 2-3 drops to the massage oil and massage the painful area. Useful in case of menstrual pain, muscle pain and rheumatism.

  • Peppermint is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. The leaves are equipped with glandular hairs in which the essential oil with an aromatic and penetrating odor accumulates.

    The plant is widely used in the food sector, in aromatherapy and in perfumery.

     

    USES IN THE KITCHEN:

     

    It can be used to flavor chocolate-based desserts, biscuits or creams but also for the preparation of ice creams, sorbets and cocktails.

     

    PROPERTIES AND USES IN AROMATHERAPY:

    - Studies have shown that peppermint essential oil has antispasmodic, inhibits the contraction of intestinal and gastric smooth muscles. It is useful in cases of meteorism, flatulence, indigestion, colitis, diarrhea, nausea and almost all digestive problems.

    It is recommended to add 2-3 drops of essential oil in half a teaspoon of sugar or honey.

    - Has action antalgic and anaestheticLocal  due mainly to menthol. The essential oil can be diluted in almond oil, or other vegetable oil, up to a maximum concentration of 10% and massaged locally. for cramps or muscle pain, rheumatism, menstrual pain or in case of headaches (apply to the temples or the base of the neck).

    - It has a mental tonic and anti-stress action: you can use it to improve concentration and attention. It can be used in environmental diffusion (avoid too high concentrations which could be irritating to eyes and mucous membranes) or a drop on the forehead (avoid contact with eyes).

    - Useful in case of bad breath and to reduce bacterial flora.

    - Has activities antiseptic. Peppermint essential oil thanks to its anti-infectious properties  combined with its expectorant, decongestant and fluidifying action, it is useful in case of colds. 

    For problems affecting the respiratory system, essential oil can be used for fumigation (a few drops in boiling water) or by pouring a few drops on a handkerchief and inhaling.

     

    WARNINGS:

    The essential oil should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not use on children under 7 years of age.

    It may be irritating if used pure on the skin.

    It is not recommended for use on asthmatic subjects, sensitive or allergic to aspirin, in case of cardiac problems, liver failure and gallstones.
