  • Dill essential oil (Anethum graveolens) is a totally natural food aroma, obtained by steam distillation of organic plants grown in our farm in Italy.

     

    It has a fresh, herbaceous scent, reminiscent of fennel and liquorice.

     

    Usage Tips:

    • Environmental diffusion: Pour 2-4 drops of essential oil into the aroma diffuser (electric or with candle).
    • Food flavouring: add 1-2 drops of essential oil to sauces accompanying fish or meat dishes (mayonnaise, vinaigrette, sour yogurt,...).
    • Body oils:Adding a few drops of essential oil to a massage oil can be useful in case of abdominal swelling.

  • Dill, also called sweet dill, belongs to the Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) family, the same as fennel and anise.

    It is an annual plant with a fresh and spicy aroma reminiscent of fennel and liquorice.

     

    CULINARY USAGE:

    With dill essential oil it is possible to prepare excellent sauces that go well with fish-based dishes such as, for example, salmon with dill yogurt sauce, cod or fried cod with dill mayonnaise. To prepare sauces, simply add a drop of essential oil to 100 g of mayonnaise, yogurt or other condiment and mix well until everything is combined.

     

    USES IN AROMATHERAPY:

    Dill essential oil can be used for problems affecting the digestive system: bloating, intestinal spasms, slow digestion.

    In this case you can prepare an oil by adding 4-5 drops of essential oil to half a teaspoon of vegetable oil and massage it on the abdomen, the operation can be repeated several times a day.

    As regards internal use, it is reserved for adults on medical indication. You can take up to 3 drops of dill, appropriately diluted in oil or honey, per day up to a maximum of 10 days.

     

    The use of dill essential oil is not recommended in cases of gallstones, during pregnancies and for children.
